Nikhat and Amit reach finals of 75th Strandja Memorial: 4 more Indians also in race for gold medal; Zareen competes with Sabina Bobokulova

Six Indian boxers, including world champion Nikhat Zareen and Commonwealth Games gold medalist Amit Panghal, have reached the finals in the ongoing 75th Strandja Memorial Tournament in Sofia, Bulgaria. Whereas Naveen and Akash had to be satisfied with the bronze medal after losing in the semi-finals.

Nikhat made clean sweep in second and third round
In the first semi-final held on Saturday, in the women's 50 kg weight category, Nikhat defeated Bulgarian boxer Zlatislava Chukanova and secured her place in the final. Nikhat won the first round 3-2. After that, he made a clean sweep in the second and third rounds and won both the rounds by 5-0. Nikhat will face Sabina Bobokulova of Uzbekistan in the final on Sunday.

Amit competes with world champion in the final
Whereas in men's 51 kg weight, Amit Panghal made a clean sweep and defeated Gumus of Turkey 5-0 in all the three rounds. Amit will face current world champion Sanzhar Tashkenbay of Kazakhstan in the final.

Arundhati and Barun made a clean sweep in all three rounds.
In women's 66 kg weight, Arundhati Choudhary easily won the match by defeating Jessica of Slovakia 5-0 in all three rounds. She will face Asian champion Yang Liu of China in the final on Sunday.
Whereas in men's 48 kg weight, Barun Singh Shagolshem defeated Khenoussi Kamel of Algeria 5-0 in all three rounds. Barun Singh got a bye in the quarter finals. In the final on Sunday, he will face Khodzhiev Anvarzhan of Kyrgyzstan.

Sachin won the second and third rounds after losing in the first round.
In 57 kg weight, Sachin made a comeback after falling 3-2 in the first round against Ukraine's Abduramaimov Aidar and entered the final by winning the second round 5-0 and the third round 4-1. Sachin will face Sheikhzod Muzafarov of Uzbekistan in the final. In men's 67 kg weight, Rajat entered the finals after getting a walkover in the semi-finals.

Akash and Naveen got bronze medals
Akash and Naveen had to be satisfied with the bronze medal. In 71 kg weight, Akash had to face defeat from Uzbekistan's Ikboljon Koldarov. Akash won the first round easily, but had to face defeat in the second and third rounds.

Akash won the first round 5-0. They entered the finals by defeating Ikbolzon 3-2 in the second round and 3-2 in the third round. In 92 kg weight also, Naveen Kumar had to face defeat in the semi-finals. Georgia's Georgy Kushitashvili won easily.
