Father did not give permission to use surname

Mohanlal was born on 21 May 1960 in Kerala. His father was the Law Secretary to the Government of Kerala. It was maternal uncle who first named him Pyarelal, then Roshanlal and then Mohanlal. The family used the Nair surname, but Mohanlal’s father did not give him this surname.

Won Wrestling Championship at the age of 17

In 1977-78, Mohanlal participated in the Kerala State Wrestling Championship and won. He was selected in the National Level Wrestling Championship, but he did not participate in it due to his passion for working in films. Mohanlal is also a black belt in Taekwondo.

The first film was not released for 25 years due to censorship

Mohanlal along with his friends Maniyanpilla Raju, Suresh Kumar, Priyadarshan and Ravi Kumar made Thiranottam in 1978. He himself played the lead role in the film, although this film could not be released for 25 years due to censorship. This 1978 film was released in 2013.

First the local court dismissed the case, then Mohanlal got relief from the High Court as well. After this, a person filed a petition saying that the government helped Mohanlal, due to which he got relief from the case. Mohanlal is the owner of Dubai-India’s restaurant chain

Mohanlal has a strong hold in the food and restaurant business. Mohanlal has a hotel chain in Dubai, named Mohanlal’s Tastebuds. He started this business from 2002. Apart from this, he also import-export many things like spices, pickles, curry powder in the Middle East, which he started in 2005. In 2006, Mohanlal started a seafood restaurant named Harbor Market.
