But unlike the triumph, Pat Cumins & Co received a dull reception on their arrival in Australia on Wednesday.

Pat Cummins & Co are back home country after wrapping up a two-month India tour on a triumphant note. Cummins etched his name in the history books of cricket by leading Australia to a record sixth title. What made the victory more special was the fact that it was the first time in 16 years that a team won the coveted title away from home.

But unlike the triumph, the Aussies received a dull reception on their arrival. Though the media was there to interact with the Word Champions, it wasnโ€™t as big as it happens in India. No crowd, and no fans as the players made a smooth exit from the airport.

In a video going viral across social media, Pat Cummins could be seen rolling his luggage through the exit gate of the Sydney Airport. The travelling group also included the likes of Josh Hazlewood, Alex Carey and Mitchell Marsh. These cricketers wonโ€™t be part of the Australian squad that is slated to play a five-match T20I series against India.

After coming out of the International Terminal, Pat Cummins took time to speak with the Australian media and shared the joy of returning home as the world champions.

โ€œI think weโ€™ll be smiling for a fair while. Every half an hour or so, you kind of remember that you just won a World Cup and get excited all over again. Weโ€™re still buzzing,โ€ the happy Aussie skipper said as quoted by Fox Cricket.

It has certainly been a year to remember for Pat Cummins. Under his leadership, Australia also claimed the ICC Test Mace by defeating India in the World Test Championship (WTC) final. They also managed to retain the iconic Ashes on English soil earlier this year.

Cummins will now shift his focus to red-ball cricket as Australia gear up to feature in a home Test series against Pakistan next month. Since becoming Australiaโ€™s Test skipper, Cummins has not endured a single Test defeat at home. He will hope to maintain the unbeaten streak in the three-match Test series against Pakistan.
