Before the mini auction of the Women’s Premier League (WPL), all 5 teams have released their retention lists. Teams had to inform about player retention by 5 pm today. Teams have released players like Sneh Rana, Isabelle Wong and Heather Knight.

1. Champion RCB released 2 foreign players Royal Challengers Bangalore team, which won the 2024 WPL, released 7 players. These also include 2 foreigners. The team released English captain Heather Knight and Nadine de Klerk, who was her replacement last season.
The team captained by Smriti Mandhana retained Ellyse Perry, Sophie Molineux, Sophie Devine, Georgia Wareham and Kat Cross. Before the auction, the team also included Danny Wyatt in its squad by trading him from UP Warriors.
2.Mumbai Indians The first season’s champion Mumbai Indians retained 18 players and released 4. The biggest name among the players released is English all-rounder Isabel Wong. He made a big contribution in making the team champion in the first season.

Delhi retained 5 foreign players. These include Meg Lanning, Alice Capsey, Marijan Kapp, Jess Jonassen and Annabel Sutherland. The team also retained Shefali Verma, Jemimah Rodriguez, Radha Yadav, Shikha Pandey and Arundhati Reddy.
4. UP Warriors The UP team captained by Elise Hilli released 5 players. The team traded Danny Wyatt to RCB, while releasing fast bowler Lauren Bell. Both are players from England. The team also let go of 3 Indian players.
Apart from Hilli, UP’s foreign players include Chamari Atapattu, Grace Harris, Sophie Eccleston and Tahlia McGrath. Among the Indian players, the team has Kiran Navgire, Deepti Sharma and Shweta Sehrawat.
5. Gujarat Giants Gujarat Giants, which finished fifth in both the seasons of WPL, released 6 players. The team also did not keep Sneh Rana, Veda Krishnamurthy and Lee Tahuhu in the squad. Their foreign players are now captain Beth Mooney, Laura Walwart, Phoebe Litchfield and Ashley Gardner. The team does not have many big names among Indian players.
Gujarat has the largest purse left After player retention, there are vacancies for 4 players each in 4 teams. Whereas in UP only 3 players are needed. There is a squad of 18 players in a team. Gujarat has the highest purse of Rs 4.40 crore. At the same time, Delhi will enter the auction with a purse of Rs 2.50 crore and Mumbai with Rs 2.65 crore. UP is left with Rs 3.90 crore and Bengaluru is left with Rs 3.25 crore.
