On Wednesday, the dead body of an elderly man was found floating in the Gomti river in Satthin village of Bazar Shukul police station area of Amethi. On receiving information about the dead body, police and local administration team reached the spot. The deceased has been identified as Rajkaran (90).

The elderly had gone to take medicines, dead body was found in the river. According to the information, 90 year old Raj Karan, son of Devit, had left home at around 10 am on Tuesday to take medicines and was told to go to Satthin intersection. When he did not return home till evening, his family started searching for him. On Wednesday morning, near Satthin Ghat on the banks of river Gomti, villagers saw the body being lowered into the water and immediately informed the family.
The family members identified the body and took it out from the river. The family members who reached the spot identified the body from the slippers and a box containing tobacco lying on the banks of the river. After this the police was informed. Police took the body out of the river with the help of boatmen.
Being a border area, police of both the police stations were present on the spot. Since this incident happened on the border of Kumarganj police station area of Ayodhya district, both Bazar Shukul and Kumarganj police were present on the spot. Police of both the police stations said that the body was taken out by Bazar Shukul police, and the post mortem process will be completed as per the convenience of the family.
Statement of Police Station President: Bazaar Shukul Police Station President Dayashankar Mishra said that the body has been taken out with the help of local sailors. The incident occurred under Kumarganj police station area, but the post mortem process will be completed as per the convenience of the family.
