Holi festival is incomplete without film songs. Rang Barse Bheege Chunar Wali…, Holi ke din dil mil jaatein…, Ang se aang lagana sajan us aise rang lagna…, These songs have been adding charm to Holi for years, but in reality, the relationship between Holi and cinema has been going on for 92 years. It is old.

The Holi song Hori Mujhe Khelne Ko Tesu Manga De was shown for the first time in the 1932 film Gulru Zarina. However, in the era of black and white films, the real colors of Holi were not visible.

This was fulfilled by Mehboob Khan's film Aan, whose song Khelo Rang Hamare Sang was a huge hit. The famous songs made on Holi – Rang Barse and Holi Khele Raghuveera also have an interesting story of their making. Some songs were composed from Meera's bhajans, while some songs were converted into songs years later from the lines written by Harivansh Rai Bachchan.

Apart from film songs, there was a huge craze for Holi parties in the film industry. Showman Raj Kapoor used to organize a big party every year on Holi, in which all the big and small stars used to participate and have fun with colors and cannabis.

Today, on the special occasion of Holi, read the fun facts related to Holi's relationship with the film world, trends, songs and film parties-

Mehboob Khan showed colors of Holi on screen for the first time

For the first time in the 1932 black and white film Gulru Zarina, the Holi song 'Hori Mujhe Khelena Ko Tesu Manga De' was asked to be played. This film was directed by J.J.Madan. After Gulru Zarina, Mehboob Khan had composed the Holi song Jamuna Tatt Par Khelo Holi in the 1940 film Aurat. Surendra, Sardar Akhtar and Yakub were in important roles in the film.

Further, he kept the Holi song Khelo Rang Hamare Sang in the color film Aan (1952). This song filmed on Dilip Kumar and Nimmi became a huge hit and started being played on every Holi.

When Mehboob Khan made the film Mother India in 1958, he included the Holi song Holi Aayi Re Kanhai in it, which became the most famous Holi song of that time.

Raj Kapoor started the trend, never celebrated Holi in RK Studio after his death

In the 60s, Raj Kapoor was the first celebrity in Hindi cinema who started hosting parties at RK Studio for Holi celebrations. In his party, two big containers were filled with water and all kinds of colors were mixed in them. The guests attending the party were first put in these containers and only after coloring they would join the party inside. Every big and small artist of that era was invited to this party. Many people even called it Bhang and Food Festival. After the death of Raj Kapoor in 1988, Holi party was never celebrated again at RK Studios.

Used to sing songs of upcoming films to eunuchs

Raj Kapoor used to invite eunuchs to his every Holi party and celebrate Holi with them. Raj Kapoor trusted the eunuchs so much that after applying color and gulal, he used to make them sing the songs of his upcoming film without any hesitation. Only when the green signal was given from his side, that song was taken in the film.

If eunuchs did not like it, they would remove the song from the film.

When Raj Kapoor played songs from his upcoming film Ram Teri Ganga Maili to the eunuchs in a Holi party, the eunuchs did not like one song. Raj Kapoor had such unwavering faith in him that he immediately called composer Ravindra Jain and asked him to change it.

In replacement of that song, the song 'Sun Sahiba Sun' was prepared. When this song was played to the eunuchs, the response was that this song will be remembered for decades. It happened exactly the same. The song Sun Sahiba Sun was a chartbuster, which is still on people's lips. Composer Ravindra Jain also received the Filmfare Award for Best Music Director for this film.
